Julie Doyle Named to New Position as Assistant Principal Dean of Students at Amherst Middle School

The Amherst Central School District has named Julie Doyle, a history teacher at Canisius High School, as the new assistant principal dean of students at Amherst Middle School, effective Aug. 22, 2022. Her appointment was approved by the Board of Education Aug. 9, 2022. The assistant principal dean of students is a new position at Amherst Middle School.

From May through August, Ms. Doyle served as the summer school program director at Amherst Central High School where she was responsible for guiding the program, building a master schedule, facilitating behavioral interventions with students, as well as arranging for substitute coverage.

A history teacher at Canisius High School since 2013, while there she created and directed a Buffalo Immersion trip where Canisius students lived and worked in several community non-profits on the east side of Buffalo for a week. She directed a Big Brothers program to support freshmen students. She also developed and directed the school’s first Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Day for faculty, staff and administration. 

She has also worked as an adjunct professor at SUNY Buffalo State. From 2005 to 2013, she was a Social Studies teacher at Akron High School where, in addition to teaching, she led several service learning projects, initiated a reading task force that led to the creation of an assessment process and course offering in the Corrective Reading program; served as class advisor, initiated roundtable discussions with faculty and area universities to understand collegiate academic expectations.
